Marcus Thor appointed new CEO of Hexicon
The Board of Directors of Hexicon, a leading technology and project developer in floating wind farms, has appointed Marcus Thor as CEO. Marcus Thor has been working as Project Director at Hexicon since 2012 and has been responsible for the companyâs breakthrough projects in Scotland and South Korea.
As the global transition towards renewable energy continues, Hexicon is experiencing a growing demand for its project development skills in offshore wind farms, in addition to the interest in its patented platform technology. The company's Board of Directors together with current CEO Henrik Baltscheffsky therefore believe it is a beneficial point in time to appoint a CEO who has worked operationally with project development to accelerate the company's offering in this area.
During his 8 years at Hexicon, Marcus Thor has been Project Director for several of the company's most important projects. Between 2015-2017, he was responsible for the Dounreay TrĂ project in Scotland; and since 2019 for the development of the world's largest floating wind farm outside Ulsan in South Korea together with Shell. Marcus holds a MSc in Engineering Physics from the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH).
Marcus Thor will commence his new role as CEO on 1 March 2021, replacing Henrik Baltscheffsky who continues to be part of the Executive Management team in a new role as Business Development Director. Marcus and Henrik have been working together since 2013 and will continue their close cooperation and ensure continuity in their new roles.
